Gross Motor
Gross motor skills involve the large muscles of the body that enable such functions as walking, kicking, sitting upright, lifting, and throwing a ball.Fine Motor
Fine motor skills involve the small muscles of the body that enable such functions as writing, grasping small objects, and fastening clothing.Apraxia
Children with apraxia of speech have great difficulty planning and producing the precise, highly refined and specific series of movements that are necessary for movements such as intelligible speech, walking, or writing.Articulation
An articulation disorder involves problems making sounds. Sounds can be substituted, left off, added or changed.
Language
When a person has a difficult time understanding others (receptive language), sharing thoughts, ideas, and feelings completely (expressive language), or enganging in conversations and play (pragmatic langauge) then he or she has a language disorder.Feeding
Children with feeding difficulties may be challenged by eating a variety of food consistencies as well as chewing and swallowing.

Children's Advancement Fund, Inc., a nonprofit organization, supports children with special needs and their families in Connecticut by facilitating services such as Occupational, Physical and Speech/Language Therapy as well as assisting the integration of children and families into the community through various programs.
